I have tried to organize my portfolio much in the same way my physical portfolio is organized. There are a handful of sections you can browse through. Each section contains a series of thumbnails. The thumbnails give a great at-a-glance look at my work and if you like a particular image and would like to give it a closer look you can click on a thumbnail image and it will display larger image(s) with some associated text.
I firmly believe that a website is never finished. There are 3 states for a website, working, down, and dead. This is a working website which means I’m always going to be working on it. I add new images on a regular basis. ^_^
